Today, Sunday, November 1, 2026, North Korea’s Korean Central News Agency (KCNA) reported that the country’s missile unit conducted a field test on October 31 to assess the suitability and destructive power of a cluster warhead specifically designed for tactical ballistic missiles.
The statement said the field tests focused on measuring the warhead’s destructive force and its capabilities in complex military operations. The agency also clarified that the warhead is a standard model (Type 2), designed to strike targets spread across a wide area of between 12 and 13 hectares. This, it said, strengthens the country’s military response capabilities against any hostile moves.
North Korea has recently placed particular emphasis on developing “tactical ballistic missiles,” including short- and medium-range missiles designed to hit designated targets with high precision and at great speed. The latest test is part of Pyongyang’s ongoing efforts to strengthen its missile arsenal and diversify its types of ammunition.
