The Kremlin said on Wednesday, November 4, 2026, that it hoped the results of the U.S. congressional midterm elections would not obstruct the “peace efforts” being pursued by U.S. President Donald Trump.
Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said in remarks published by Russia’s state media: “We are sincerely hoping that Trump will continue the efforts he has begun to achieve peace.”
According to Russia’s TASS news agency, Peskov indicated that new developments were expected and that another round of trilateral talks would be held soon. He also praised the role of U.S. First Lady Melania Trump in the peace efforts and expressed hope that the process would continue.
Asked whether the results of the congressional elections and a Democratic majority would pose an obstacle to Trump’s efforts, Peskov said: “This is an internal U.S. matter.”
