According to the ministry’s official statement, the decision was based on forecasts from the Kurdistan Region’s Meteorological and Seismological Directorate, with the aim of protecting the lives and safety of students, lecturers and employees at all higher education institutions in both the public and private sectors.
The Ministry of Higher Education stressed that, given variations in weather conditions and rainfall levels across different areas of Kurdistan, universities and institutes have been authorized to assess conditions on the ground and decide, when necessary, whether to suspend classes within their jurisdictions.
