According to preliminary information, in Erbil’s Seberdan neighborhood, a 25-year-old citizen who worked as an excavator operator went to help local residents alongside rescue teams in a humanitarian and voluntary effort using his own machinery. However, he was swept away by a powerful current and died.
The Erbil governor also said that, in a separate incident, a five-year-old child and his father were swept away by the flooding while inside a car. Although the child’s father managed to escape, the child died, and his body was later found.
