Israeli security sources revealed that the United States is preparing to send more soldiers and warplanes to Israel over the next few weeks, as a preemptive measure to confront any potential military escalation in the region, coinciding with the approaching election dates in both countries.
According to information from the Israeli website (Walla), nearly 3,000 US soldiers are currently deployed at several different sites in Israel. The main task of these forces is to operate air-defense systems, air forces, logistical support teams and headquarters operations. Within this framework, a new convoy of forces and warplanes is expected to arrive in the region as the forces rotate.
Meanwhile, the (Jerusalem Post) newspaper reported that Donald Trump’s administration had decided to send its third aircraft carrier, named (USS Theodore Roosevelt), to the Middle East along with another unit of Marine forces. The (USS Makin Island) amphibious ready group has also set out to take part in the mission, carrying approximately 2,200 armed personnel from the 13th Marine Brigade and more than 2,000 sailors.
A senior official at Israel’s Ministry of Defense said their adversaries were closely monitoring the election climate in Israel and the United States to determine whether they could create instability in the two countries’ political systems through an attack; he also warned that «the adversaries know that Israel’s response this time will be very harsh and aggressive».
Another part of the report said that the Israeli army, in close coordination with the US military’s Central Command (CENTCOM), was on alert for the possibility of a rapid confrontation erupting with Iran, at a time when Tehran is suffering from a severe economic crisis, and had identified a target bank for striking sensitive positions in Tehran in the event of any missile attack on Israel or Jordan
