The Iraqi Council of Representatives rejected all rumors claiming that, due to corruption, a decision had been made to lift immunity from a large number of Iraqi parliamentarians.
The Legal Affairs Department of the Iraqi Council of Representatives announced today, Wednesday, in a statement: A report had been published by some media outlets and social media networks, quoting a member of parliament, claiming that a request had been made to lift immunity from a large number of parliamentarians on charges of involvement in corruption.
It was also indicated that the substance of the report is far from the truth and is in no way correct.
The Legal Affairs Department also stressed that the member of parliament who published the report had been referred by the Presidency of the Iraqi Council of Representatives for questioning, with the aim of taking appropriate legal action against him.
