Iraq’s Federal Integrity Commission announced that, following its investigations into a corruption case at the "Mesopotamia" company in Kirkuk Governorate, arrest and investigation warrants had been issued for 31 suspects allegedly involved in violations and corruption in the wheat-clearing process.
After a detailed inspection, an investigative team from the Integrity Commission’s Kirkuk office found that thousands of tonnes of wheat had been cleared illegally within a few hours. The investigations revealed that the quantity of wheat had been cleared in the names of three citizens (one of whom had died), despite none of them possessing an agricultural plan.
According to information from the Integrity Commission, the investigations identified 31 suspects, including the former manager and employees of the aforementioned company, as well as employees of the Agricultural Bank jointly operating in the governorate, who were involved in disbursing the funds for clearing the wheat.
So far, 10 of those suspects have been arrested and detained for questioning, while arrest warrants have been issued for the others and efforts to implement them are continuing.
