Iraq’s Transport Minister announced that they had decided to ban the Waze (WAZE) app across Iraq, ahead of schedule and after two months.
Mustafa Sanad, Iraq’s Transport Minister, said in a post published on the Facebook social network: Because of citizens’ reactions to the decision to ban the Waze app, we decided to bring forward the date for implementing the decision.
Mustafa Sanad also posted: The (WAZE) app was scheduled to be banned in Iraq at the beginning of 2027, but we decided to bring the decision forward, and it will enter into force at the beginning of next January (month 12).
Mustafa Sanad had also announced earlier today, Tuesday, that at the beginning of the new year 2027, the (WAZE) app would be banned throughout Iraq.
Iraq’s Transport Minister attributed the reason to the fact that the app was developed by the state of Israel.
