For the third consecutive year, Dr. Jigar Harki, a parliamentarian and academic researcher, has maintained his leading position on the list of the 2% top scientists in the world in the field of energy, compiled by Stanford University and the Elsevier Institute (Elsevier).
Today, Sunday, 11 October 2026, Dr. Jigar Harki, a member of the Kurdistan Parliament from the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc, said in an exclusive interview with “Kurdistan TV”: “It is a great source of pride that, for the year (2026) and alongside previous years, I have been able to keep Kurdistan’s position in the field of energy high among the 2% top scientists in the world. This assessment is the result of a joint project by Stanford University and the international Elsevier Institute.”
The Kurdish scientist also noted that this success is the fruit of a path filled with effort and the conduct of (91) in-depth academic research, whose aim is to find practical solutions to crises in the energy sector and develop a sustainable environment. At the same time, he stressed that beginning his scientific journey in the Kurdistan Region and reaching this international level is proof that the capabilities of the Kurdish individual are limitless.
In another part of his message, delivered through Kurdistan TV to the country’s researchers and young people, Dr. Jigar stressed that the next generation must believe in its talents and abilities and strive to make the name of the homeland shine in the world’s leading centres through science. He also noted that this international confidence places a greater responsibility on his shoulders to continue serving science and society.
It is worth noting that this annual ranking is prepared by the American Stanford University and the Elsevier publishing centre, based on information from the reputable “Scopus” database (Scopus), with the aim of introducing influential figures who have played a significant role in advancing science and solving humanity’s complex problems.
