The Ministry of Emergency and Disaster Management said torrential flooding and heavy rain across several Syrian provinces had killed five civilians, four of them children.
According to a statement from the ministry, the deaths were recorded in rural areas of Raqqa and Deir ez-Zor provinces. Meanwhile, five other people went missing in rural areas of Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Aleppo provinces, and rescue teams continue searching for them.
Separately, rescue teams managed to save 25 people who had become trapped by flooding in Raqqa, Deir ez-Zor and Homs provinces, or whose vehicles had broken down in the water.
Rescue teams warned that continued unstable weather posed a greater risk of flooding in low-lying areas and urged residents to follow safety instructions.
