Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said Tehran would not reopen the strategic Strait of Hormuz to shipping unless the United States accepted all of Iran's conditions.
IRGC spokesperson Hossein Mohibi said in remarks broadcast by Iranian state television on Sunday, August 9, that Iran's current strategy is to maintain control of the strait until its adversary accepts all of its terms.
Mohibi also described a change in how Iran's military views the waterway, saying that the Strait of Hormuz has effectively become a battlefield for Iran rather than merely an international shipping route.
