Mohammed Al Jaber, Saudi Arabia's ambassador to Yemen, said that the strategic Bab al-Mandab Strait had been cleared of the armed Houthi groups.
In a message he published on social media, the official described the achievement as a victory for the people of Yemen and the entire Arab nation. As of the time this report was prepared, the Houthi side had not issued any response to this announcement.
Meanwhile, a Yemeni military source told Anadolu Agency that today, Friday, Yemeni government forces, with the direct support of the Arab Coalition, had launched a large-scale military operation to fully control the Bab al-Mandab Strait and the island of "Mayyun".
According to information from that source, the "Amaliqa" and "National Shield" forces took an active part in the operation and managed to strengthen their positions in that sensitive area.
