The United States has launched the deployment of its third aircraft carrier, along with approximately 10 thousand fresh troops, to the Middle East in its latest military move in the region; a decision made amid speculation about developments related to Iran.
According to information published by Fox News, the strike group of the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt, along with the United States Marine Corps’ Thirteenth Marine Expeditionary Unit, is en route to the region and is expected to arrive in the Middle East by the end of November.
With the arrival of this carrier, the Theodore Roosevelt will join two other aircraft carriers, namely the USS George H. W. Bush and the USS George Washington, which had previously been deployed in the region, forming the third pillar of the United States’ naval presence.
This military reinforcement includes approximately 6 thousand sailors stationed in the Theodore Roosevelt carrier strike group, as well as more than 4 thousand and 200 personnel belonging to the Marine Corps unit and its accompanying amphibious group, totaling approximately 10 thousand military personnel.
According to the mission schedule, the aircraft carrier Theodore Roosevelt left the port of San Diego on 27 September, while the Thirteenth Marine Expeditionary Unit departed for the operational area one day later, accompanied by the amphibious group Makin Island.
