Iraq’s Ministry of Finance issued an important decision on setting a new exchange rate for the dollar against the Iraqi dinar and repealing a previous decision concerning customs fees.
According to a statement by Iraq’s Ministry of Finance, based on Cabinet Decision No. 544 issued at the session of 06-10-2026, it was decided to change the dollar’s exchange rate against the Iraqi dinar, setting the rate at 1,500 dinars per dollar.
At the same time, the Ministry of Finance announced that implementation of Cabinet Decision No. 413 of 2026, which concerned the advance collection of customs fees, had been suspended.
These Ministry of Finance decisions come as the Iraqi government seeks to create a degree of stability in the currency market and reduce the financial burdens on traders by abolishing the advance collection of customs fees.
