Today, Friday, October 30, 2026, security agencies in Diyala province announced that, less than 24 hours after 63 sheep were stolen from the village of "Maysalun" in Qara Tapa district, the main suspect in the crime was arrested in a special operation.
According to the statement, the suspect had attempted to transport the stolen sheep to the "Jazeera" region in order to deflect suspicion from himself. However, security forces arrested him approximately 50 kilometers from the scene of the crime.
Security agencies also said that an assault rifle found in the suspect’s possession was seized at the time of his arrest. A case has also been opened against him under Article (446) of the Iraqi Penal Code, and he was handed over to the judicial authorities for legal proceedings.
