Several firefighting teams arrived at the scene immediately after being alerted and managed to extinguish the fire within a short time, preventing it from spreading.
Shakhawan Saeed, spokesperson for Erbil Civil Defence, said the fire caused no casualties and resulted only in material damage to several shops. Meanwhile, inspection teams began investigating to determine the main cause of the blaze.
The spokesperson for Erbil Civil Defence added that two visitors staying at a hotel next to the shop suffered breathing difficulties, and one of them was taken to hospital for treatment.
