In a statement, the Integrity Commission said the Salahaddin Criminal Court had issued an in-absentia ruling sentencing both the former director of the Audit Division and the former director of the governorate’s warehouses to three years in prison. The case had been investigated by the commission and referred to the court.
The statement said the court’s ruling was based on credible documentary evidence and issued under Article 318 of Iraq’s Penal Code No. 111 of 1969, after it was established that the defendants had been involved in taking and stealing money allocated for the implementation of one of the governorate’s projects.
