On Monday, November 2, 2026, as part of the work of the Tripartite Coordination Council between Iraq, Jordan and Egypt, a joint videoconference was held. Ali Warid Hamoud, director general of the Iraqi Oil Projects Company, met with teams from Jordan and Egypt to discuss the project’s technical details and the construction of refineries and fuel storage facilities.
The meeting emphasized moving the projects from the discussion phase to practical implementation, including beginning work on the Basra–Haditha crude oil pipeline, thereby opening new avenues for Iraq to export oil through the Red Sea and Mediterranean Sea.
The step is part of a broader strategy by the three countries to strengthen energy security and economic cooperation in the region. At the same time, implementing the projects would advance the petrochemical sector, enhance Iraq’s position as a key energy supplier in global markets, and strengthen trade between Baghdad, Amman and Cairo.
