The Iraq Integrity Commission said a specialized court had ordered harsh prison sentences for both individuals after finding them guilty of unlawfully obtaining benefits and gains through public office and employment.
The statement said that, in addition to the prison terms, the court had imposed financial penalties on both defendants and ordered them to return in full the money they had unlawfully acquired—a total of 10 billion Iraqi dinars—to the state treasury.
