In a statement released today, Friday, November 6, 2026, Netanyahu’s Office said Israel now has a strong and stable economy. It also described Trump’s decision as a “sign of the strength of relations between the two countries.”
The decision comes after Trump announced on November 3 that he had reached an agreement with Netanyahu under which military aid would be suspended until the end of this year. The United States provides Israel with $4 billion in military assistance annually, and the current agreement had been set to remain in effect until 2028.
According to Israeli state media, Trump’s sudden decision—which came alongside his political defeat in the congressional midterm elections—has caused shock in Israel’s Defense Ministry and military. This comes as Netanyahu faces intense pressure from the opposition, led by Gadi Eisenkot, over his failure to secure the majority needed to form a government in Israel.
It is worth noting that, according to an academic study, Israel has received at least $21.7 billion in military assistance from the United States since the beginning of the Gaza war.
