The Erbil Security Directorate said in an official statement that it had arrested the two main suspects in the shooting at a citizen’s home in Erbil’s 99 District of the University neighborhood, one of whom is a well-known social media personality.
According to security information, the incident occurred on 29/09/2026, when someone on a motorcycle shot at the home of a citizen, (Fatma Ibrahim). In connection with the case, the security crime team immediately began follow-up investigations and identified the shooter as (M, A, A), who had fled outside the Kurdistan Region after the crime. However, he was arrested upon his return under a warrant issued by the security investigative judge.
Erbil Security also said that, as investigations continued, another suspect, (A, M, F), was arrested. He is a well-known figure on social media. According to surveillance-camera footage, the suspect was with the shooter when the crime was committed and showed him the citizen’s house. The suspect is also accused of previously inciting another person to shoot at the same house.
Regarding the motive for the incident, Security clarified that it stemmed from a dispute between the suspect, (A, M, F), and the family’s son, (Zrar). It is worth noting that (Zrar) is himself accused of previously shooting at the real-estate office of the suspect, (A, M, F), and has now fled outside the Kurdistan Region, while investigations into all aspects of the incident remain ongoing.
