The US Department of Defense (the Pentagon) decided to broadcast live via the Internet the execution of Nidal Hasan, convicted of killing 13 American soldiers in 2009.
Reuters quoted a Pentagon official as saying: The execution of Nidal Hasan, convicted of killing 13 people in an armed attack on Fort Hood military base in Texas in 2009, will be broadcast live over the Internet.
Under US military law, the prior approval of US President Donald Trump is required to carry out the execution of 56-year-old Nidal Hasan.
Last Monday, Donald Trump signed the order for Nidal Hasan's execution on the recommendation of Pete Hegseth, the US Secretary of War.
Nidal Hasan's execution is scheduled to be carried out by firing squad on 3/12/2026.
Thus, Nidal Hasan, who was previously a psychiatrist in the US Army, will become the first person since 1945 to have an execution by firing squad carried out against him by the US Army.
The incident occurred as follows: Several weeks before he was to be sent to Afghanistan on a military assignment, at dawn one day in 2009, Nidal Hasan opened random fire on his fellow soldiers inside the health center of Fort Hood military base in Texas, and as a result of the incident, 13 American soldiers were killed.
