Today, Thursday 22 October, the Ministry of Municipalities and Tourism of the Kurdistan Regional Government announced that foundation stones had been laid for two service projects worth 717 million dinars, funded by the revenues of the mayor’s office, in the Kori Village and Girdjoutyar neighborhoods.
The first project involves opening internal roads and paving Zone A in the Kori Village neighborhood, while the second project in Girdjoutyar involves surveying and installing curbs in that sector, as a first step toward delivering basic services to the new neighborhoods.
During the ceremony, Sasan Awni, Minister of Municipalities and Tourism, said: “As part of the ongoing work of the Kurdistan Regional Government, we laid the foundation stones for these two important projects. Despite the obstacles and difficult financial situation, the government’s reconstruction and service efforts, in accordance with the directives of Masrour Barzani, Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government, will not stop under any circumstances and will continue.”
For his part, Erbil Governor Omed Khoshnaw noted that these projects are the first phase of beginning reconstruction in neighborhoods that are newly expanding and have been authorized for development, and that they are being implemented using the revenues of the Erbil mayor’s office. The Erbil governor also emphasized that, thanks to the prime minister’s efforts to increase domestic revenues and reduce expenditures, it has been possible, alongside strategic projects, to respond to citizens’ immediate requests and demands in those areas.
