Because of a social dispute between two families in the city of Kufa, within Najaf province, the city’s primary school has remained closed for two days, at a time when the new academic year has begun across Iraq.
According to media reports, a dispute has been developing for several days between two families from the Qazwini area north of Kufa. This has prevented the area’s primary school from reopening and led it to remain closed.
Because the school is located near the home of one of the feuding families, students and teachers have been afraid to go to their school and begin the new academic year, fearing that fighting and a confrontation could break out between the two families.
The city’s security forces, for their part, have so far been unable to resolve the dispute so that students can go to the classrooms and begin the new academic year.
