Italian media said police arrested more than 370 people during protests in various cities across the country.
According to figures published by Italy’s ANSA news agency, police arrested 371 people, 110 of whom were teenagers and minors, while 69 were foreign nationals.
The report said the protests were held on Saturday in Rome, Turin, Milan, Florence, Bologna and several other cities, and that clashes and tensions occurred between police forces and protesters in some of these cities.
It also said that Italian citizens’ protests and their taking to the streets were prompted by opposition to the government’s economic policies, the sharp increase in fuel prices and the spread of inflation in the country.
