The US president again criticized the Nobel Peace Prize committee and described the Nobel committee’s decision as an "embarrassment and an indelible stain on Norway," after the prize was awarded to a former judge of the International Criminal Court.
Donald Trump, the US president, strongly criticized not being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize himself during a speech at an election rally in Syracuse, New York State. Trump’s remarks came several hours after this year’s Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Navi Pillay, a former judge of the International Criminal Court, who had overseen a United Nations report that concluded Israel had committed genocide in Gaza.
In his speech, Donald Trump described Navi Pillay as an unknown person and said: "I had never heard of her, and nobody else had either." The US president also said: "This decision is an indelible stain on the state of Norway and all those who made that shameful decision."
Without presenting any evidence, the US president claimed that he had played a role in resolving several conflicts and had prevented war from breaking out between North and South Korea, Japan and North Korea, as well as China and Taiwan.
At the end of his speech, Donald Trump emphasized: "The Nobel Peace Prize has always been unreliable and worthless," and described the decision as the result of the work of a group of extremists who, according to him, are anti-democratic and enemies of civilization.
