The UK Home Office announced that citizens can surrender their weapons anonymously, without disclosing their identity. The process is being carried out through dedicated disposal bins and mobile vans stationed at locations across the country.
According to official figures, more than 15,000 knives and other offensive weapons have been handed in by members of the public since July 2025. The Home Office-funded campaign aims to reduce crime and remove dangerous weapons from public hands.
Security analysts say initiatives of this kind help remove illegal weapons from the streets without exposing citizens to legal questioning. The Home Office says it will continue providing facilities so that as many people as possible can take part in the national initiative to protect public safety.
