The Serekaniye Displaced Persons Committee announced that the third convoy of displaced people, carrying more than 500 families, is preparing to leave the camps and return to the villages and towns in the southern countryside of the city.
The Media Office of the Serekaniye Displaced Persons Committee said in a statement that displaced people from the city of Serekaniye are preparing to organize the third convoy for their return to their villages and towns in the southern countryside of the city, after many years of displacement and exile in camps and shelters.
The statement said: The new convoy includes more than (500) families residing in the "Washokani" Camp and shelters (schools) in the area. The families are scheduled to head to a number of villages and areas south of the city, with the aim of settling in their homeland and resuming their normal lives.
This step comes within the framework of completing the program for the return of displaced people to their homeland, amid continued efforts to end the forced displacement file and reduce the suffering of camp residents. It is worth noting that the second convoy of displaced people departed on 8 September last year, carrying approximately (700) families, and returned to villages in the southern countryside.
