A statement of condemnation from the Kurdistan Regional Government
The Kurdistan Regional Government strongly condemns the terrorist attack that targeted a church in Karak Governorate of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, in which a number of civilians were killed and wounded. At the same time, the Regional Government expresses its concern, deep sorrow and grief over this criminal act, which constitutes a blatant violation of human values and the principles that guarantee freedom of worship, the protection of religious sites and the lives of civilian citizens.
While reiterating its categorical rejection of all forms of terrorism, violence and extremism, the Kurdistan Regional Government also stresses that targeting places of worship and efforts to sow discord and foment unrest among the components of society constitute dangerous threats to social peace and religious coexistence, and can achieve no result other than undermining security and stability.
The Kurdistan Regional Government expresses its full sympathy and support for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, its leadership, government and people, and extends its condolences, sympathy and deep compassion to the families and relatives of the victims, wishing the wounded a speedy recovery.
It also emphasizes the importance of strengthening regional and international cooperation and coordination to counter terrorism in all its forms and protect the security and stability of societies.
