Text of the condemnation statement by the Kurdistan Regional Government:
The Kurdistan Regional Government condemns in the strongest terms the terrorist attack on a church in the province of Karak in the friendly Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, which resulted in the death and injury of several civilian citizens. At the same time, the Regional Government expresses its deep concern and sorrow over this criminal act, which constitutes a blatant violation of human values and principles that guarantee freedom of worship, the protection of religious sites and the lives of civilian citizens.
While the Kurdistan Regional Government renews its firm opposition to all forms of terrorism, violence and extremism, it also emphasizes that targeting places of worship and attempting to create division and discord among the components of society constitute a dangerous threat to social peace and religious coexistence, and will have no result other than disrupting security and stability.
The Kurdistan Regional Government declares its full solidarity with and support for the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, including its leadership, government and people, expresses its deep condolences and sympathy to the families and relatives of the victims, and wishes the wounded a speedy recovery.
It also emphasizes the importance of strengthening regional and international cooperation and coordination to combat terrorism in all its forms and protect the security and stability of societies.
