The Moscow municipal government, in cooperation with Rosatom, has begun testing a mobile robotic station for charging electric vehicles in a public parking lot near Mayakovskaya metro station. In this regard, Maxim Liksutov, Moscow’s deputy mayor for transport and industry, noted that the new technology will eventually free drivers from dependence on fixed stations and enable them to summon the robot to their vehicle’s parking spot via the Moscow Metro app.
The mobile robotic station is equipped with an energy-storage unit with a capacity of 74.6 kilowatt-hours and supports fast charging at a power of 60 kilowatts; as a result, charging a vehicle from 10% to 90% takes only about 30 minutes.
The number of charging stations in Moscow has now exceeded 10,700, and more than 40 thousand residents of the city own electric vehicles. At the same time, as part of the city’s transport strategy, it is planned that by 2030 the number of these stations will increase to 30 thousand to meet the growth in the number of electric vehicles, which is expected to reach 320 thousand units.
