The Erbil Governorate announced that the Erbil–Koya road division project, one of the area’s strategic projects, is ongoing and that 50% of its work has been completed so far.
The Erbil Governorate stated that this important project is 37 kilometres long and is being implemented entirely by engineers and local labour. The project also includes several underpasses and overpasses. A large and significant section of the road has been completed with 3 standard asphalt layers.
Once the project is completed, the road will be transformed from a highly dangerous single-carriageway route into a fast dual carriageway, raising the level of traffic safety. It will also shorten travel time between Erbil and Koya by approximately 20 to 25 minutes, providing considerable convenience for drivers and residents of the area.
