In an official statement, the Erbil Governorate Police Directorate announced the arrest of the lawyer who yesterday got into an altercation with another lawyer inside the Erbil Court of First Instance building and, after drawing a weapon at the scene, fled.
According to Erbil police, at 12:00 noon yesterday, Sunday, 18 Tishreen al-Awwal, an altercation broke out inside the Erbil courthouse between two lawyers identified as (Y. Z. M) and (S. A. H). Although court police officers and employees immediately tried to calm and control the situation, one of the lawyers, identified as (Y. Z. M), drew a pistol and immediately fled the courthouse.
Erbil police said that, following security efforts, the suspect was arrested today and referred to the authorities. A case file has also been opened, and he is currently being held under Article 31/406 of the Iraqi Penal Code by order of a judge, pending the taking of legal measures against him.
