President Barzani welcomed the new head of the European Union office in Erbil, and the two sides discussed the situation in the region, the process of activating parliament and forming a new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet.
On Tuesday, 20 October 2026, in Pirmam, President Masoud Barzani welcomed Mr. Stefan Vent (Stefan Vent), the new head of the European Union Liaison Office in Erbil.
During the meeting, Stefan Vent expressed his pleasure at meeting President Barzani and beginning his new mission in the Kurdistan Region, and appreciated the openness and hospitality of the people of Kurdistan. He also stated that the European Union attaches great importance to the position and influence of the Kurdistan Region at the level of Iraq and the region, and considers itself a supporter and partner of the Kurdistan Region.
Elsewhere in the meeting, the political situation, developments and tensions in the region were addressed, and views were exchanged on the challenges facing the activation of parliament and the formation of a new Kurdistan Regional Government cabinet.
