The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc in the Iraqi Parliament said that, to prevent encroachment on and expropriation of service-designated land in the Janglawa neighborhood and Aliawa village, they had sent an official letter to the prime minister and relevant bodies and would prevent illegal projects.
Dr. Shakhawan Abdullah, head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc in the Council of Representatives of Iraq, said: In order to halt encroachment on and seizure of land allocated for services, after a complaint was received from residents of the Janglawa neighborhood stating that a parcel of service-designated land had been granted for investment, we sent an official letter to the prime minister, the Integrity Commission and the National Investment Commission asking them to prevent that project. Subsequently, the Prime Minister’s Office forwarded the letter to the General Secretariat, which in turn forwarded it to the Kirkuk Governorate for the purpose of halting it.
The head of the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc stressed that, in response to the continuation of that project and any other project on land designated under (140), they would take all measures. At the same time, regarding the issue of Aliawa village, they sent an official letter to the same parties, and based on their letter, the National Investment Commission notified the Kirkuk Investment Commission to halt the matter.
It was also indicated that previously the 140 Commission, in response to their letter, had requested that all projects located on land designated under 140 be halted. Dr. Shakhawan Abdullah also assured citizens that, as the Kurdistan Democratic Party bloc, they would follow up on any request submitted to them and would always support their legitimate demands.
It is noteworthy that for some time a new wave of Arabization has been implemented in the city of Kirkuk under the guise of investment, with the land, property and homes of Kurdish citizens being demolished and handed over to investors belonging to another ethnic group under the pretext of encroachment.
