The Kurdish National Council in Syria ( (ENKS) criticized the way guests were invited by the “MERI” Institute regarding issues related to Rojava Kurdistan; at the same time, it praised the “Barzani Court” for following up on correcting this shortcoming and respecting political pluralism.
Today, Wednesday, 14 October 2026, the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council in Syria (ENKS) stated in a statement that the invitations sent by the “MERI” Institute to host figures and academics concerning the Kurdish issue in Syria should be based on inclusiveness and balance and should include all political currents without discrimination or marginalization, foremost among them (ENKS) and the other political parties and forces.
The statement said: “Ignoring a main political current whose presence and role in representing the demands of our Kurdish people cannot be denied sends a negative message to Kurdish public opinion and does not contribute to solidarity and responsible dialogue. Even if the purpose of these meetings is academic and scientific, it would have been more appropriate for the invitations to be balanced and to provide an opportunity for all different viewpoints and opinions.”
(ENKS) expressed its appreciation for the position of the “Barzani Court” and stated: “We appreciate the attention and follow-up by the Barzani Court regarding this issue and its eagerness to correct this mistake, while emphasizing that the Kurdish issue is far greater than to be reduced to a particular current.”
At the end of the statement by the Kurdish National Council in Syria, it said that serving the Kurdish people requires respect for political pluralism and ensuring everyone’s participation without marginalizing or excluding any of the currents.
