The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Kurdistan Region stated that all religious symbols are sacred and respected. While condemning the wounding of religious sentiments, it reaffirmed that legal measures would be taken against violators.
Today, Saturday 24 of October 2026, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Kurdistan Regional Government issued a statement saying: “All sacred religious symbols are held in the highest regard. Even if someone has a different opinion, they must not wound the feelings of others by using certain expressions, because this is a comprehensive matter, and any violation that expresses and demonstrates disrespect falls under the category of defamation.”
The statement said: “The culture of the Kurdistan Region is far removed from such expressions, and they are entirely alien, because coexistence is a source of multifaceted pride and the region has an ancient history.”
The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs also stressed that it condemns any act that causes harm to the feelings of others and considers itself entitled to take all legal measures against those responsible.
