In a reaction to remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump, who had described Ukraine as needing a “new president” to end the war, Ukraine’s foreign minister said that Volodymyr Zelensky is a strong president and deserves support.
Ukraine’s foreign minister indicated that Zelensky has led his country at a very sensitive and difficult time and has mounted an unprecedented defense of Ukraine’s territorial sovereignty; therefore, international support for him and for Ukraine is an important necessity for the stability of the region.
This reaction comes at a time when discussions about the future of U.S. support for Ukraine during the U.S. presidential election campaigns have become a hot media topic.
