Today, Saturday, October 31, 2026, Jordan’s official Al-Mamlaka television channel, citing a military source, reported that a unit affiliated with the Northern Military Zone’s Border Guard thwarted an attempted infiltration and border crossing on Friday evening by an armed group that had come from Syrian territory and was estimated to number 14 people.
The military source explained that the armed group attempted to infiltrate under cover of intense gunfire and a direct clash with Border Guard forces. However, the forces responded forcefully in accordance with the rules of engagement, causing significant casualties among the armed group’s ranks, while the group’s other members fled deeper into Syrian territory.
At the end of the statement, the Jordanian Army source stressed that the country’s armed forces would deal with the utmost force and resolve with any attempt at infiltration or smuggling, and would respond in the strongest terms to any party seeking to undermine Jordan’s national security and the sanctity of its borders.
