In a post on the "X" platform titled “A response to Vance,” Ghalibaf wrote: While the United States is standing on the brink of Israel’s first collapse, your president is preparing himself for the next phase of the war; why don’t you tell your president these realities?
The speaker of Iran’s parliament added: The United States is currently like a gambler who keeps losing but is unable to get up from the gambling table.
Ghalibaf’s remarks came after JD Vance outlined the reasons for the Republican Party’s defeat in the congressional midterm elections in a detailed post on the same platform. Vance stressed that the main problem was not low turnout; rather, a significant share of those who voted for Trump and Vance in the 2024 presidential election voted for Democrats in this election.
Vance referred to a poll by a prominent election analyst on the factors that could bring dissatisfied Trump voters back to the Republican Party. The factors were grouped into four main points:
Ending the war.
Focusing on the high cost of living and inflation.
Prioritizing America’s domestic interests.
Changing the way Washington communicates with Israel.
