U.S. President Donald Trump told reporters after arriving in West Palm Beach, Florida, that the U.S. military had carried out a new, limited strike against Iran on Friday, targeting the country’s air-defense system. Trump made clear that the operation had ended very quickly, lasting only a few minutes.
The U.S. president said Iran had installed a small air-defense system, but that U.S. forces had managed to completely destroy it in roughly 15 minutes—or perhaps in just five minutes. He also alluded to the possibility of an “occupying force,” without providing further details.
Meanwhile, Iranian state media reported that the sound of two explosions had been heard in the Suza area on Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, which is considered a major waterway for oil transportation.
