Today, Sunday, November 8, 2026, Agence France-Presse reported that several powerful explosions were heard early this morning in the city of Riyadh. The blasts came minutes after Saudi authorities sent residents of the capital a mobile-phone alert warning of an "aggressive aerial threat," amid continuing attacks and clashes between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Iran-backed Houthi fighters in Yemen.
The warning message said: "The area is facing an aggressive aerial threat. Please remain calm and stay in your homes or in a safe place away from windows and doors."
Meanwhile, a resident of northern Riyadh said: "The explosions were so loud and powerful that my entire house shook violently."
