In a statement, the KDP bloc’s spokesperson said: “On a questionable channel close to opponents of the Kurdistan Region’s political entity, Ala Talabani has made a series of false claims against the Kurdistan Region.”
The bloc categorically rejected the accusations and said: “The peoples of Kurdistan and Iraq are far too aware to be deceived by this kind of misrepresentation. The public knows well where the smuggling and illegal trade in medicine and oil originate, and which of the aforementioned person’s associates carry them out.”
The statement said such campaigns were a continuation of an anti-Kurdistan agenda aimed at diverting attention from “the real crimes surrounding the aforementioned person.”
The KDP bloc stressed that such rhetoric was not unfamiliar to the citizens of Kurdistan, adding that history had proven the will of the people of Kurdistan to be a force that silenced such discordant voices. It concluded: “In response to these slanders and distortions, we will pursue every legal avenue to reveal the truth and confront this illegitimate campaign.”
