Today, Friday, 23 October 2026, the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA) announced in a statement that the United States had been selected to host the inaugural historic Women’s Club World Cup, in which (16) clubs representing the six continental confederations will participate, with the aim of strengthening the level of women’s football at the world-club level.
Under the tournament system, (13) clubs will qualify directly for the group stage, while three other clubs will compete through a qualifying playoff. At the same time, the identities of the participating clubs will be determined based on the clubs’ results in the most prominent continental competitions during the period from (2024 to 2027).
FIFA revealed that the United States was selected on the basis of its advanced infrastructure and services, along with the significant welcome and enthusiasm for women’s football in that country. The decision was made during a meeting of the FIFA Council held on 15 October this year in Zurich, Switzerland.
It is worth noting that the tournament is intended to become an organized competition held every four years, following the international federation’s announcement, for the first time in (2025), of its plans to launch it.
